Palm is serious about pulling out all the stops in taking the mobile crown with their Pre; and bringing in former insiders seems to be part of their game plan. VentureBeat reports while Palm is already "filled with former Apple employees", they recently hired Chuq Von Rospach as their Developer Community Manager, a veteren at Apple who worked for many years on Unix projects. When asked about his thoughts about Palm and his connection to Apple, Von Respach replied:
“It wasn’t so much that there are ex-Apple people there, but that there are a bunch of really good and talented people there. That Jon Rubenstein (former senior vice president of the iPod division, and now executive chairman of Palm's board) is heavily involved was one of the things that caught my eye — but the place is stuffed with lots of really sharp and competent and inventive people, some of whom used to work for Apple. And many worked other places, too, like Adobe and Macromedia, for instance.”
It is clear that Palm is pulling in a wide array of talent in time for the release of the Pre. If it pays off for them, then perhaps competitors will all start looking to Palm's roster in trying to improve their own.
