Engadget has had a chance to sit down with Palm today, and tackled some of the recent news about the Pre and webOS. Basically, Palm was staying silent about carriers for their GSM version of the Pre that was spotted at the show, and keeping the actual device at arm's reach at all times.
They did however, confirm that games are in development for webOS, and although they denied accusations that the "OS can't handle that stuff", they were adamant to focus on the fact that web-style app development will limits options for games overall.
However, the fact that Adobe Flash for webOS is now officially on the table may end up helping them in that department, which should be ready by the end of the year.
As as for when the SDK will be released?
Palm's currently working with a small amount of developers in private beta, refining the SDK to their feedback and needs, and will slowly expand that as the phone approaches launch, but we don't expect a full SDK to reach Joe the Coder until very close to before or after the launch.
Finally, in regards to the soft keyboard, Palm stated the fact that developers could build their own. Engadget wondered if this would be easy, given that developers "won't have super deep access to the OS". Palm however, hopes to open those APIs up in the future.
